"All the cool people talk to their moms on this livestream." Day 21 → A recipeSNICKERDOODLE COOKIES Dough: 1/2 cup each butter and shortening (or margarine), at room temperature 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Beat butter, shortening, sugar and eggs together until creamy. Add cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, then blend. Add flour and mix well. Chilling overnight is preferred; otherwise at least two hours Topping: 3 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon cinnamon Preheat oven to 375°F. Combine topping ingredients in small, shallow bowl. After chilling, shape dough into balls about 1 ½ inches in diameter. Drop dough balls into topping mixture and coat entire surface well. Place on ungreased baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake in a 375°F degree oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand one minute and remove to cooling racks. Makes about 3 dozen cookies. ( People keep suggesting Olive and Forrest. Olive and Forrest Green. I don't think we'll be going with a pun name. )My mom told me that she and my dad would take me to Outback because I mentioned craving a Bloomin' Onion about a year ago. So now, of course, I'm craving one again. GIVE ME A BLOOMIN' ONION OR GIVE ME DEATH!!! P.S. Please don't give me death. What's that from? Anyone? Anyone? (No, not Ferris Bueller. XD ) Day 20 → A hobby of yoursA list! 1. Being an active FOTC fan. (It IS a hobby. A life-long hobby.) 2. YouTube. I vlog and I actively follow a LOT of other vlogs. Like John & Hank Green. :D 3. Roleplaying. I often roleplay in one window and watch vlogs in another, between comments. Because I am a NYYERD. 4. Writing. I write a lot of stuff. 5. Um, reading. XD I do read. 6. Watching some TV sometimes. ( cosy home, board and bed. sturdy roof beneath my head. not bad. not bad at all. )I was supposed to be seeing Young Frankenstein (the musical) tonight, but there's a blizzard goin' on. The snow goes up to my waist. O_O So hopefully we'll get a refund or a different chance to see it. Roger Bart's in it. Hence the subject and LJ cut lines. ;) That's a clue for yue. P.S. Like my new mood theme? I felt like giving Goody just a little bit of picture type love on my journal. :] Bret's still number 1! (I would get a John & Hank Green mood theme in a heartbeat if I could.) Because it's now 1. Bret 2. John Green 3. Hank Green 4. Matthew Goode And I love them ALL. Like, A LOT. ^_^ This has turned into a long P.S. Sorry. Entry of memeness and awesome epicness. Meme #1: Day 19 → A talent of yoursMaking people laugh. :D As immodest as that sounds, I do seem to have a penchant for making people laugh or at least smile big smiles. Like Bret's smile in my icon. ( to see a great big man entirely made of snow )Meme #2: Part of meme number one, really. ;) I was tagged by jinxycat aka Twin!Tara! ♥ FIRST: If you’ve been tagged, you must write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new, original question. SECOND: Tag eight sexy people. Don’t refuse to do it like a pansy. I tag (in no particular order): illusionedwords, shizukuchan, xxsmoothopexx, makebelievetree, allie83, he_is_dead_jim, misunderstated, famousx! ( how I'm longing to ski through the snow )And finally, the Epicness: While doing the Project For Awesome livestream chat ( http://livestream.com/projectforawesome) last night, Hank Green of the Vlogbrothers said my YouTube username out loud, in the stream, not once, not twice, not thrice, not quadrice (???), but FIVE times! And said it was funny and clever. He smiled as he said it and kept saying it like a kid saying a curse word for the first time. XD "Post-HU-morously." I died. And then and then AND THEN, today, JOHN GREEN READ A TWEET FROM ME on there. Me: Aww, you are so cute! John: "Aww, you are so cute!" Is that for me? I don't know. But, if it is, (makes a sexy face to the camera) a-thankya. I died again. I LOVE JOHN AND HANK GREEN!!!! ♥Speaking of Project For Awesome, please go on http://youtube.com and rate, comment and favorite any videos with the red & white Project For Awesome logo like the one in my video (and do all of the above to my video too, please). It's all for charity and awesomeness and getting the word out about the great work that people are doing to decrease Worldsuck. Do it for me. Do it for the children. Do it for Yuki cat. DFTBA! Oh lord, here it comes. I'm Sar Bear and I'm comin' at ya like a bomb! Like a missile! Like a... water balloon. Day 18 → Whatever tickles your fancyAs you probably know because of my INCESSANT DRONING about it, today is Project For Awesome day. The day was started by John Green. Here, let him explain it further... So-o-o, this is what tickles my fancy. I need you guys to watch my video and rate it, comment on it and favorite it. And have your friends do the same. :D Why do I care about Gilda's Club? Well, this was written to me in response to my $10 donation today: Dear Sara,
Thank you for your gift of $10.00 to Gilda's Club Worldwide. Your gift enables Gilda's Club to make a difference in the lives of thousands of men, women and children living with cancer. It might be a child learning to express their feelings about a parent's cancer diagnosis. It might be a woman learning to love her body again after a cancer treatment. It might be a teenager learning to talk to their sibling who has cancer. It might be a parent learning to grieve the loss of a child. Across North America, your gift will enable Gilda's Club to help people living with cancer feel a little bit less alone and a little bit more hopeful for the future.
At Gilda's Club, we know that when there is cancer in the family we are all living with cancer. While medical care helps individuals fight the disease, people with cancer and their families are often left to deal with the equally urgent emotional and social needs. Gilda's Club helps people take that next step by learning how to live with cancer, whatever the outcome. Gilda's Club is also the only place where the entire family can join together to experience a community of support.
We provide our program entirely free of charge and rely entirely upon the generous donations from individuals, foundations and corporations.
Thank you for helping us move one step closer towards our goal that no one should face cancer alone.THAT tickles my fancy more than anything. ( Read more... )P.S. Tara, I promise to do your meme tomorrow when there's not all this craziness going on! xoxo It could be... a talent of mine, if you will. ;) Tags: cancer, dftba, gilda radner, green bros, love, project for awesome, vlog, youtube Current Mood: hopeful Current Music: Honey (Touch Me With My Clothes On) - Gilda Radner

Since moving back to a much more Jew-populated state, I’ve come to adore Hanukkah in ways that many Jewish people would probably find offensive. I just think the commercialization of it is hilarious, almost to the point where I wish I celebrated. Seriously, I want some Hanukkah things in my stocking this year. Some of the stuff that’s sold for it is neither cute nor clever. It means nothing, and serves no purpose. From a retail perspective, Hanukkah items don’t sell very well unless they are absolutely ridiculous. I’ve seen Hanukkah pasta, stars of David that wind up and walk around, dreidel necklaces, and other things like that. At the post office yesterday, the line was enormous. I had about a 15 minute window to get my stamps for my Christmas cards and then get to work. When it got to be my turn, I tried to make it easy on the postal worker so we could both get on with our jobs. I counted how many stamps I needed, and she swiftly whipped out the Menorah stamps. I laughed as soon as I saw them. Sure, I could have asked for Christmas stamps, but I don’t think they would have brought as much joy to my recipients or to me. So if you got one, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Tags: holidays Current Mood: sleepy

Day 16 → A song that makes you cry (or nearly)The Neil Finn (better!) version: ( might be getting crazy, might be wise )And I got tagged by cosmic_starz for another meme! • List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself. • Tag seven people to do the same. • Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it."1. Cheese and Dr. Pepper are my drugs of choice. 2. I'm an obsessive person. I have to make sure things are finished and just right before I can move on to something else. Like, for example, I always check my friends page after posting to see how my entry looks to my friends. XD 3. I have crazy, zany, obsessive enthusiasm over all kinds of things. For example, I'm in a role-playing game, right? I obsess over the 13 character "faces" that I use. My fellow players end up hearing about the new movies they're in or whatever. And I'm the same way with books. John Green said that extreme enthusiasm is the hallmark of being a nerd. Then call me a nerd! I'm proud of it! 4. My aunt and uncle (my dad's brother and sister) are both cops. My aunt's a detective in Lakewood, Washington and my uncle is an FBI guy. :) My dad is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel who now works as a consultant at Booz Allen. They're all pretty awesome. 5. My sister is vegan and I am vegetarian. We disagree on a great many things. And we live together. Real life Odd Couple! 6. I have no problem playing chords on the ukulele. My problem is with strumming. 7. My favorite character on The Office is Andy Bernard. I used to watch with mild interest/amusement until he was added to the cast. I ♥ Ed Helms even though I have yet to even see him in much else (besides The Hangover!!!). Wow, I got to 7 really quickly. I TAG: jinxycat! stopthesanity! samedikat! sunnyringo! illusionedwords! makebelievetree! musical_junkie! Day 15 → A fanficUh, okay. This is embarrassing. I wrote this when I was 17, in high school. In a notebook, carried around from class to class. Several of my friends got to read it before it was put on my site. And they liked it, so maybe you will too. It's a Monkees fanfic. XD STELP!The title comes from something I yelled out when learning to ride my bike. I went into the little space between the sidewalk and the grass and mixed "stop!" with "help!" Dad won't let me forget it. It still makes us laugh. :) ( a manufactured image with NO philosophies! )But, more importantly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMMMMMM aka sunnyringo!!!!!! ♥ ♥ ♥Tags: birthdays, fanfic, love, nother meme thingie, sam, the monkees, yayness Current Mood: nostalgic
